This is my Christmas present to my grandmother. The buildings are my family's farm

Here's how this piece came into being:
This is a scene I saw 6 weeks ago, I was running in the country and took this route that I never take for several reasons. Storms were in the area, the sky was ominous, there were even a couple flashes of lightning. The wind was strong, making it difficult to run, it spit rain. There were many breaks in the clouds and the sun came out in a furry. It illuminated the bare golden fields and the white sheds and house shined like pearls on the prairie against the bluer than blue stormfront.

This sight I saw of our family farm I burned into my memory. I did a couple test paints of it this past month and executed this work over the past week and a half. Total time of maybe 8-9 hours. I have never painted a sky like that before, I was estatic when I realized the sky looked as fierce as it was that day.
