Watercolor on 6 x 10 inch on coldpress watercolor paper. Used a 8 size round brush. Permament Rose and Burnt Umber were the colors used. This is done from a photo from 's gallery. You can see the one I'm working on here [link] Go take a peak, she's got an extensive gallery.
Did a little different than Pink Flowers 01 [link] Limited to two colors, only 3 tints of each. I tinted the whole paper with a light coat of pink. Permament Rose mixed with some Burst Umber makes a really deep red. Plus it has transparent qualities due to the paints I used to mix it. Always a plus with watercolor. I used that for the darkest pink/red color. Completed in 30 minutes. I put the brushstrokes on in a hurry, I let the texture of the paper make some white appear. I enjoyed the immeditacy, also I didn't have it hanging over my head to complete for days either. ^_^
Wow! That's really an improvement on the flowers compared to Pink Flowers 01.
The background works really well. It's like the colour would radiate off the flowers.
Which gives me an Idea - while this looks like a lively flower painting the other one (01) could be more like an illustration of a plant's book if it had clearer outlines.
To do the same painting twice is very interesting. I hope it was as interesting for you to paint as it is to look at.
So beautiful! Flowers are very symbolic in our world - they hold secrets, majesty, and an illusive appearance that we cannot help but gaze at. It's Mother Nature at her finest with this painting. Very, very nice work, I'm proud of how you did this. It's simplistic, holds imagery; a story - it has character, passion. I would love to have something like this in my room.
It would also be perfect to host japanese calligraphy on it
Thank you very much! Please go and comment on the original photographer that allowed me to do this piece. =alpenglow I'm sure she would be flattered as well.
